Fourth of July Safety

The Schaumburg Fire Department would like to remind the public of the dangers of fireworks. For the safety of everyone, please leave fireworks to the professionals. Remember, any fireworks that go "boom" or "bang" or that shoot or explode are ILLEGAL for you to possess or use in the State of Illinois and the Village of Schaumburg. Those individuals found in violation of the Village of Schaumburg Municipal Code are subject to a $100 fine. It is important to note that property owners can be cited where there are fireworks being discharged regardless of knowing who actually set them off. The public is advised to dial 911 to report fireworks use.

The Schaumburg Police Department would also like to remind the public to travel safely when on the roads this holiday. Always arrange for a safe ride home or designate a sober driver before you start the party if you plan on drinking. If you are the designated driver, be sure that everyone in the car buckles their seat belt, regardless of where they are seated.
