Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson and officials joined municipal and county facilities across the state in proudly raising the new Illinois Bicentennial Flag on Dec. 4. The simultaneous flag raising, which took place at noon, commemorated the beginning of the yearlong 200th anniversary of Illinois’ statehood. Patrons visiting the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center can catch a glimpse of the new flag hanging high on the flagpole in the circle drive near the main entrance. The flag will be flying statewide throughout the yearlong celebration, which culminates on Dec. 3, 2018.
A proclamation to honor the state’s 200th birthday celebration is also being planned for the December 12 Village Board meeting.
Fun Fact: The bicentennial logo was designed by Ben Olson, owner of 3 Monkeys & Aardvark Studios located right here in Schaumburg!
