The Police Department’s front desk and records division are being renovated to better serve the community and increase efficiency when citizens come into the police department. The renovations are a result of a building study that was conducted to determine ways to efficiently use the available space.
The front desk area is the original design from 1975 and is in need of several updates. The project will include the addition of an ADA compliant window to both the front desk and records division. Both areas will be reconfigured to add customer service windows so more than one customer can be assisted at a time. There will be increased safety features for the citizens and staff which will modernize the facility.
The project is being carried out in two phases to ensure continued service for the community. Phase 1 of construction begins August 1 and will continue through mid-September. During phase 1, the front steps and front door of the police department will remain closed. A temporary entrance to the police department will be located on the west side of the building along with additional customer parking.
The RX Box located in the lobby, which allows the public to dispose of unwanted and/or expired medications, will be temporarily unavailable during phase 1. During this time, the public can use the Rx Box at the Roselle Police Department, 103 S. Prospect Street in Roselle if needed.
Phase 2 of construction will take place from mid-September through mid-December. The front desk area will be reopened during phase 2 with limited access. The Community Room will be closed during the renovation due to limited access and will be reopened once the project is complete.
