Village Seeking Information to Help Maintain Safe Water Supply

The Village of Schaumburg’s Water Division is responsible for maintaining the village’s water distribution system by providing residential, commercial and industrial public water supply users with water that is safe, clean and adequate in quantity and quality. In conjunction with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), the village is encouraging the public to take an online survey that will help identify all cross-connections that exist in Schaumburg so that the village can continue to protect drinking water supplies. A cross connection is a connection between a drinking water supply and a non-drinking water source, where a contaminant could potentially enter the drinking water supply. Cross connections should be protected by a valve called a backflow preventer. For more information on cross-connections and the survey, visit the village’s website at http://www.villageofschaumburg.com/depts/engg_pw/watersew/cross_connection_survey.htm

Residential and commercial surveys are located online at www.bsiprograms.com/surveys.

Paper copies of the survey are available by visiting the Engineering & Public Works Department at 714 S. Plum Grove Road or the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court. Once completed, residents can mail their paper surveys to BSI Online, 12609 S. Laramie Avenue, Alsip, IL, 60803, or fax them to (888) 414-4990.

Your cooperation is essential and appreciated in maintaining a safe water supply. Questions regarding the survey should be directed to BSI at (800) 414-4990 or you may also contact the Schaumburg Engineering and Public Works Department at (847) 895-7100.
