Twisted humor, larger-than-life characters and a ghoulish plot -- all held together by a magnificent Stephen Sondheim score –  make for a thrilling night of musical theatre when Schaumburg Bank and Trust presents Schaumburg Summer Theatre’s production of “Sweeney Todd.”

Set in Victorian-era London, and based on a popular urban legend of the time, “Sweeney Todd” follows the title character who sets on a mission to get revenge on those who ripped his life and family apart. Along the way, he encounters Mrs. Lovett, a failing meat pie shop owner who devises a plan to help dispose of Todd’s victims in a culinary, albeit most unsavory, manner. The score, one of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated, features memorable songs including “A Little Priest,” “Pirelli’s Miracle Elixir,” “By the Sea,” and “Not While I’m Around.”
