Pet Licenses/Animal Tags

Schaumburg residents owning dogs or cats four months of age or older are required to purchase a village animal tag for each animal. Pet licenses/animal tags are issued for the period beginning May 1 and ending April 30 of the following year. It is very important for all pets to be properly licensed.

Lost pets can be identified and returned to their owners more quickly when tagged. Licensing also improves public safety by requiring proof of rabies vaccination.

  • Pet licenses/animal tags are currently $4 per pet.
  • Residents aged 65 or older and disabled residents are permitted to purchase one pet license for $1.
  • Residents must have proof of a current rabies vaccination in order to purchase the tags.
