Nutcracker Auditions

The Schaumburg Dance Ensemble is pleased to announce open auditions for the Nutcracker, featuring significant restaging and choreography by Michele Leslie Holzman, Alberto Arias, Autumn Eckman, and Lisa Sheppard Shipman. Professional and non-professional roles will be cast.

The 2011 run will include thirteen performances featuring over 100 dancers.

Child and adult roles are available. Young male dancers are also sought for sequences.

Saturday, August 13

8:30 am - 10:30 am

Ages 8 & 9
Minimum 1 year classical ballet training
(8 years old by 10/1/11)

10:45 am - 1:30 pm

Ages 10 - 11
Minimum 2 years classical ballet training

1:45 pm - 3:30 pm

Ages 12 - 13
Minimum 3 years classical ballet training

3:45 pm - 4:30 pm

Boys Ages 7 - 13
No dance training necessary (7 years old by 5/1/11)

Saturday, August 20

10:00 am - 2:30 pm
Ages 13 to Adult - Advanced/Intermediate Dancer
(Pointe and non-Pointe roles available)
Bring character shoes and jazz shoes in addition to ballet techniques and Pointe shoes.

Sunday, August 21
8 am - 4 pm

Auditions are held at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg, IL
Dancers must register ½ hour before auditions
Bring a photo to audition
A parent or guardian must attend a meeting at the start of the audition.
All scheduled rehearsals will be absolutely mandatory.
Cast member participation fee is $100 (for those selected)

Boy Dancers Sought

Auditions for boy dancers are on Saturday, August 14 at 10:45 am (ages 10-11) and 1:45 pm (ages 12-13).
