The Prairie Center Arts Foundation has created three programs which benefit area residents and the the local arts community.
-
Theatre Buddies meets an important need in the community by providing free tickets to performances at the Prairie Center for the Arts to those with special needs. Tickets provided by Theatre Buddies make the arts accessible to under-served and at-risk populations in Schaumburg and surrounding communities including economically disadvantaged families, persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
- Arts Partners serves the children of growing Latino populations, many of whom immigrate to local schools without the language skills to engage in the educational process. The programs provides many students with their first experience attending a live performance.
- Ruth Park Scholarship Fund awards an annual $500 scholarship to an outstanding senior musician in Schaumburg Youth Orchestra. The scholarship is named for Ruth Park who was a founding member of the Prairie Center Arts Foundation board of directors and a life long friend of the orchestra, the arts and Schaumburg.
These programs help to bring people to the arts and the arts to people, contributing to the quality of life in Schaumburg and surrounding communities. For more information, contact Lucinda Flodin or call (847) 923-3608.
