Compensation & Benefits
The Village of Schaumburg takes pride in attracting and retaining a diverse, high-quality, highly educated, professional workforce in order to meet the service demands of our residents and businesses. For our non-union employees in order to remain competitive the Village's Compensation and Benefit strategy has been primarily to mirror other comparable public sector employers in the Northwest suburbs. Union contracts are subject to a specific set of collective bargaining laws. Wages and benefits for these groups are ultimately dictated through binding interest arbitration.
For purposes of determining salaries and benefits the Village of Schaumburg compares itself with the Village of Arlington Heights, City of Des Plaines, City of Elgin, Village of Elk Grove Village, the Village of Hannover Park, the Village of Hoffman Estates, the City of Mount Prospect, the Village of Palatine and the Village of Streamwood. The Department of Human Resources monitors comparable communities' salary and benefit information on a regular basis. In addition, other factors, such as cost of living, employee performance, the private market where applicable and union contract obligations, are used in determining the Village's compensation and benefits package.
The Village values its employees and the contribution they make to the community. It should be noted that all sworn public safety employees do not participate in social security. If you have any questions about the information provided here please contact the Director of Human Resources.
